Unemployment Falls 82 000

Unemployment Falls 82,000.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics have shown that unemployment in the UK from August to October fell by 82,000 to 2.51 million people.

There may be some glimmer of recovery as wages rise on the year, and this unemployment fall is the biggest since 2001.

These figures do not mean that 82,000 found work.  40,000 more people are employed in the UK, creating a record of 29.6 million workers, and the other 42,000 have either retired or left the UK.

Our view
This is great news for the country as confidence picks up.  There is even talk now of the housing market improving as demand increases from pay rises and more people working.
