
Underlying Economy Strong
According to the Confederation of British Industry, the state of the real economy is reassuring despite the credit crunch entering a period of maximum uncertainty. Director General of the CBI, Richard Lambert said while doom and gloom pervaded the views of managers and analysts in the City, businesses outside the capital, particularly in Scotland appeared to be solid.
Our view
The UK economy is fundamentally strong, it is only sensationalist TV journalism that is trying to talk us into recession.
