Under 34s Ignore Pension Saving

According to a YouGov poll of nearly 2,000 people in the UK, young people are not backing their retirement plans with hard cash.

More than half of the nation’s under 34 year olds are not saving anything at all and are at risk of becoming a generation with big dreams and few assets.  Young people suggest they need better, easy to understand pension information.

Our view

Education is key and the message we currently give people is holidays, cars, cash, easy housing, easy benefits and it will all happen for you in life’s great dream.

A simple return to Victorian work ethics values and discipline at schools would assist, but we know that the Government’s only solution is ‘compulsory pensions’ and any research they do always points towards this.
