UK Swiss Post Brexit Insurance Deal

Published / Last Updated on 28/01/2019

The UK and Switzerland have agreed finance industry, insurance related trading terms post Brexit.

A new agreement has been signed and will come into effect when the current EU-Swiss Direct Insurance agreement ceases if/as and when the UK leaves the EU.

Even though Switzerland is small by population and geography, it is still one of the most important finance centres in the European continent although not part of the EU.  Investment alone in 2016 in the UK’s financial services industry was over £11 Billion, the second highest investor in UK finance after the USA.

The UK-Swiss Direct insurance agreement will continue to allow the UK and Swiss insurers access to both markets and enable it to continue post Brexit.
