UK Property Sales Down

Property sales in September look like hitting a record low as people tighten belts ahead of spending cuts starting to have impact.

The loss of potentially half a million public sector jobs and public sector cut backs will no doubt create huge uncertainty.

HMRC confirmed that completed sales registered for stamp duty were down by around 4,000 (5%) and this trend of figures is expected to continue through to the end of the month as other organisations such as the Council of Mortgage Lenders and both the Halifax and Nationwide property indices release their own figures.
