Tough New Unemployment Rules.
New rules came into force today which will restrict benefits for anyone who is unemployed and does not come into the job centre every day, work for free, or undertake training.
These new rules will apply to those who have not found a job using the current system after 2 years.
The new system has been criticised by many, but the government has said the new scheme is not trying to punish jobless people.
The new rules are predicted to currently apply to up to 200,000 people. Failure to follow these rules will result in a suspension of the Jobseekers Allowance (JSA).
A test of the new system has already been carried out and was found that the number of people using the new system had only fallen 2-4% compared to the old system. This was not a massive result. Only time will tell if this new system will work or not.
