Top 10 Things Young People Are Scared To Complain About

Published / Last Updated on 20/11/2018

Research reveals that over 15 million people in the UK don’t have the confidence to complain and are missing out on getting problems resolved, products replaced or not receiving refunds when things are 'not quite right'.

Research produced for The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) says the younger generation, in particular, aren’t complaining and miss out as they are fearful to speak up.

Below are the areas that many young people find unacceptable but never complain about yet the over 50s are happy to complain about the same.

  • Smoking in public places
  • Bad meals at a takeaway or restaurant
  • Rude shop assistants
  • People taking up extra room on public transport
  • Late mail/parcels
  • People jumping queues
  • Delays with travel
  • Inefficient service in shops
  • Travellers playing music loud on public transport
  • Unhappy with a hair cut/styling

The FCA is also encouraging people to check mis-sold PPI before the August 2019 deadline.

The FCA has enlisted Gok Wan to try and help the nation be more assertive rather than shy and to complain with confidence.
