Tax the Rich: Clegg Vote Chasing Spin.
Nick Clegg the Deputy Prime Minister has made a comment in which he suggests that the more wealthy people in the UK should pay more tax for a short amount of time. Mr Clegg has also commented that he would like ex-treasury minister David Laws to make a return to the cabinet. Mr Laws resigned 2 years ago after admitting that he claimed expenses to pay his partners rent.
Our view
Whatever your politics, whether they are red, blue or yellow, should not politicians come to together “all party” to agree the way forward. We have some of the best economic brains in the country and surely we can solve this? Taxing the rich or hitting the poor, neither are solutions. The problem is debt, our debt and euro debt. Countries in Europe, including our own, living beyond its means and just borrowing more is a recipe for disaster. Vote winning comments, we think not. Has Mr Clegg really lost it? The British public can spot a “spin” comment designed to win votes from one thousand yards.
