From personal experience, one of this sites Directors used to work in a claims department for a leading insurer back in October 1987 when the Great Storm hit. Ashley Clark said: “I remember it so well, working in the ‘disaster claims team’ for 18 to 20 hours a day, 7 days a week to try and help both families and businesses that were hit by that huge hurricane force storm. We did our best then to help those who were hit and no doubt insurance company staff will be doing the same right now to help all those affected by Desmond.
What this really does though is emphasize yet again the need for adequate insurance protection, be it your property, your business, your car or even life insurance and income protection.” The great of insurance is ‘the unfortunate few and help by the fortunate many’ i.e. we all pay our premiums and hope that we never to claim, but for those that do, there is enough money available to help you.
