Stock Market Gamble?

A survey conducted by Abbey has revealed more than 6m British people would consider taking advantage of lower market valuations by investing in the stock market.

The research also found that 56 per cent would be more likely to invest in the stock market if they had some sort of capital protection to guarantee their investment against falling markets.  Of the 6.6m people surveyed, 15 per cent would consider investing in the stock market to play the current volatility to their advantage.

Our view

Investment is relatively very simple even when you do not understand it.  Buy low sell high.

Both property funds and stock market funds have taken a ‘brow beating’ over the last year.  Is this not now the time to buy? Do not invest in things where you see the words ‘all time high’ and ‘record profits’ e.g.  gold.  The time to invest in gold was last summer.
