In response to enquiries from policyholders, Standard Life is reassuring emergency workers with life insurance and critical illness policies that their claims will not be declined on the basis of terrorism.
Concerns that policies may not pay in the event of a terrorist attack have been raised following warnings from emergency service workers union, Unison.
Standard Life have stated that they do not have any plans to change the existing conditions of their policies, nor will they be changing any procedures for any new customers, although lifestyle, including occupation would continue to be considered during the underwriting of the policies, and could lead to higher premiums from the outset, as had always been the case.
Our view
Well done Standard!
