Members of the Staffordshire Building Society have voted and confirmed their approval of the merger with the Portman Building Society. The merger is expected to take place on the 31 December 2003 assuming it is approved by the industry regulator, The Financial Services Authority.
Our view
Not expected, both are quality operations but need to be bigger to compete. Expect your windfall bonus in the middle of January - just when the last of your December salary has probably disappeared!
