The latest figures from Spain's National Statistics Institute have shown that mortgage lending in Spain has risen to it's highest level yet, reaching £13.8 billion (20.5 billion euros) which is 26% higher than the same month last year.
The average loan rose to 135,946 euros, 19.2% higher than May last year. The Office of National Statistics recently estimated the value of international property owned by Britons had more than doubled, with Spain the most popular destination for investors.
