Small Business Funding.
A new Government scheme is set to launch a £30m mentoring programme introduced by the Government for small firms to seek advice on how to expand and grow their business.
This scheme has come from a number of recommendations to help small firms. The recommendations come from the Prime Minister’s enterprise adviser Lord David Young, which were in a report published today.
The scheme would work where small firms would be given a voucher that could be used to seek advice on many areas, such as expanding, marketing, financial management and making a presence online.
Our View
£30m of matched funding to enable business startups to get the advice they need is good thing.
The issue, as ever with these funding exercises, is trying to ensure that business people get value for money. We have met many so called experts that are appointed as experts by government agencies who simply treat the government money as a 'gravy train' and the new business needing help or expert advicse simply does not get the quality that should be delivered.
