Skandia Life has closed their Guaranteed Pension Fund. Due to falls in stocks and shares, Skandia have had to shore up the guarantees given by the fund by moving investments into Gilts. The reason for the fund closure to new business is due to the lack of potential growth, now that almost 2/3rds of the fund is invested in Gilts.
Letters have been sent out to policyholders and people that invested in the fund recently have been offered a switch to the Deposit Fund.
