Abbey National Group, owner of insurance brands Scottish Mutual and Scottish Provident looks set to dump the brands in favour of the new, all encompassing brand, Abbey.
Our view
Financial Services is ever changing and it does not make sense to have to pay for marketing and literature costs for three or four brands. It weakens the message.
It is a shame that such old and trusted brand names may disappear but a sensible move. Although, we are not sure about "Abbey" - easy to remember but likewise easy to get confused with the troubled Abbey Life.
