Scottish Friendly has announced 20 job cuts due to a restructure of their technology and administration systems. In 2003 the Friendly Society spent £3m on upgrading their administration and technology systems to provide better information for customers. The job cuts are as a result of the system implementation.
Our View
Technology is a great thing but people need jobs. We are now seeing so many companies making redundancies due to restructuring and streamlining. On the positive side, streamlined technology and administration systems will improve customer relations and cut down on delays. This can only be a good thing.
