Scotland Independence and Investments
We have had a number of clients contacting us with concerns over the outcome of the Scottish independence vote and what affect it would have on their investments. At the time of this news story, the polls are very close and the no to independence is only leading by a small margin.
Now to address concerns over this, we are holding a neutral stance and still holding for UK stock market. When you look at the poll for voting there are still a lot of people undecided, around 10% - 15% depending which vote you are looking at.
Our view is that there is a strong possibility for a no vote, this is based on a number of reasons. There are many big name companies from finance, retail and services that have come out publicly and said they would move their headquarters to the remaining parts of the UK if there were a yes vote. Add this to the numbers of people who are undecided that maybe fearing the unknown leaning them to a no vote.
If there were a yes vote the markets would correct accordingly, however with the big name companies that have said they would move their headquarters to the remaining parts of the UK they would need to be registered in UK markets.
