Revenge Tenant Eviction Rules.
New rules could protect private home tenants from ‘revenge evictions’. The new rules would provide protection to tenants who make justifiable complaints such as faulty boilers, leaky roofs etc.
Evictions often come when a tenant asks for repairs to a fault at their rented home, this has led to many tenants living in fear of being evicted if they were to make a complaint about a fault in their home.
The new powers are now being backed by the government and would make it illegal to evict people from their homes within 6 months of making a justifiable complaint.
However, it is unknown if the rules will come into effect before next year’s election and even then it would need to be prioritised by the parliamentary authorities before coming into force.
