Retirement Income Shortfall GBP5 000

Retirement income will have a shortfall of £5,000 this year according to a survey by Prudential.

UK adults retiring this year will draw an annual retirement income £5,000 less than the average working adult.  

The survey found that those retiring in 2008 will do so on an average annual retirement income of £18,663 compared to the £23,748 earned by the average full time working adult, with men expected to retire on an average retirement income of £20,790 and women on £11,292.

Our view

These figures confirm that the UK’s pension crisis is far from over people need to take time when considering their retirement income options.  We are need to start our retirement income planning today.
