Renting Is Cheaper

Published / Last Updated on 26/11/2007

Hometrack

According to Hometrack, it is now cheaper to rent a home, rather than to buy one.

House prices have increased significantly since 1994, whereas the rental sector has only increased in line with inflation.

Our view

While this is good news for those of us who rent a property, it is not so good for landlords as they may not be making much money from the rent, as they would like.  The credit crunch will start to bite very soon.
