A Scottish audit into public sector pension schemes has found that more than 250 dead pensioners were still being paid their pensions, with the total overpayments amounting to around £10 million.
Our view
This is a strange one - it is interesting that banking groups had not picked up on inactive accounts - it is perhaps difficult for pension trustees to do so unless they install a yearly identification scheme.
People will soon contact them if they ignored such identity requests and their payments stopped.
Perhaps this is something that they should all look into.
