Pensions Back Greenhouse Gas

The Local Authority Pension Fund Forum has backed a British Gas initiative to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.  The forum has been encouraging UK oil and gas companies to reduce its emissions to combat the risks of climate change.

British Gas has pledged to reduce its emissions by one million tonnes by 2012 – around 8 per cent of the group’s forecast emissions for the next four years.  Ian Greenwood, chairman of LAPFF said “British Gas Group has set a benchmark for other companies to follow”.
