Pension Tracing Service _ Lost Pensions

Published / Last Updated on 02/11/2007

Pension entitlements could be lost due to the policyholders not keeping an eye on the policy.

Directgov has launched a free pension tracing service for those of us who have lost track of our pensions for one reason or another.

The most common reason given for losing track of a pension is that it is not worth very much, so people don’t bother with them.  The tracing service can be found at www.direct.gov.uk and has access to a database of over 2000,000 occupational and personal pension schemes.

Our view

A pension tracing service has been available from the Pensions Service (part of the Department for Work and Pensions DWP) for some time.  Raising public awareness by linking the service is a good thing.
