Overweight Is Over Priced

Churchill has recently released figures that could seriously affect your wealth - well, they could if you eat too much, drink or smoke!  According to the figures released, people that are obese, drink and smoke could pay over £10,000 more than a fit non drinker and smoker, over a 25 year policy.

Our View

Obesity has been in the news for some time now, as it seems to be turning out to be the largest killer in the UK.  It is true that many insurance policies add premiums on for smokers and those that are overweight.  You might also see a hike in premiums if you drink over the recommended amount.  Our advice (as no-one is perfect) is to shop around for your cover and do not accept the first quote you are given.  Companies vary when calculating premiums so where one company would add on extra premiums, another may not.  Also, if you find getting cover difficult or have been previously declined, there are a number of specialist insurers who could help.
