An online 'debt test' has been designed by the Financial Services Authority in association with the BBC and Experian, to help consumers keep control of their borrowing. Consumers can receive feedback on their levels of debt by answering questions about their personal circumstances, income and borrowing. It also offers tips on how to avoid debt problems, as well as managing any financial difficulties they may have. The Authority are working with other potential partners to make this test more widely available. The online test is available at the FSA's website.
Our view:
A gimmick - people know when they are in debt and do not need an online 'calculator' to warn them of this.
