Online Competitor Up For Sale?

Australian financial services giant, AMP (Australian Mutual Provident), owners of UK brands NPI, Henderson, Pearl, Towry Law, London Life and Ample is rethinking its strategy in the UK market.

It has been reported in an industry newspaper, Money Marketing, that AMP is looking to sell pensions company NPI and online finance sites Ample and concentrate on the Henderson fund management brand.

Our view

Larger holding groups will always look at which brands are profitable and which are not.  Of course sales are made to release capital for expansion or consolidation elsewhere and this is certainly what we believe is likely to happen here.
