Norwich Union is to become a partner in a project to create a National Financial Services Academy as part of its plan to support local education.
There will initially be three centres, with one in Norwich, where the company already employ around 10% of students. They hope that the centre will improve the calibre of potential employees. The other centres will be in London and Manchester.
Another employer signing up for the scheme is Nationwide. The centres will provide vocational education and training in all aspects of financial services, with each concentrating on a specific sector. One of these will be the mortgage market.
Our view
It is a good thing that NU is pioneering improved finance education standards.
