No Recourse For Home Information Pack (HIP) Inspectors

Published / Last Updated on 15/07/2007

Following the delay of the introduction of Home Information Packs, energy assessors have been advised not to take legal action against the government for loss of earnings.

Qualified home inspectors were contemplating seeking compensation, however, they have been advised by Hugh Dunsmore-Hardy, the chairman of the National Association of Registered Home Inspectors, that the government would have to scrap home information pack’s completely in order for legal action to stand a chance.

Our view

Once there are enough energy assessors, home information packs will filter through to the whole of the housing market. Our main concern is the debacle that means laws were passed years ago and we still do not have enough people who can do the job. What a joke.
