No Qualifications For Pension Advice Joke!

Published / Last Updated on 28/06/2004

The Government has been attacked by consumer watchdogs for not forcing advisers who offer and sell Stakeholder pensions to have qaulifications.

The paper about the so-called "Sandler Suite" of low charges financial products provides no requirement to be qualified to give advice.

Our view

Another disaster waiting to happen - and guess who will get the blame?  Yes - the finance industry.

The Government will get away free no doubt, much in the same way that the Tories got away with promoting Personal Pension Plans with nurses in the adverts - only to to then enforce the finance industry paying compensation to people like nurses who left the NHS scheme to take out their own private pension.
