News Of The World Closure Shock.

The New of the World (NoW) is to close after 168 years, following accusations of hacking into phones of crime victims, politicians and celebrities.  Over 4,000 possible targets have been identified by police.

Former editor Andy Coulson will be arrested over suspicions that he knew about or had direct involvement in the hacking during his time as editor of the NoW, even though he insists he knew nothing about it.  It has also been revealed that that the NoW has passed emails to the police, which allegedly show payments it made to the police that were approved by Andy Coulson.

James Murdoch, chairman of News International has advised that no advertisements would be run in this weekend’s paper, instead any advertising space and the proceeds from sales, would be donated to good causes.  He also stated that the company was fully co-operating with the police investigations.

The government has promised an inquiry in to the hacking allegations.
