A survey by leading finance industry newspaper Money Marketing has found that 86% of people in the financial industry are against the new name for the new professional finance body following the merger of the Life Insurance Association and the Society of Financial Advisers.
The proposed new name is the Personal Finance Society.
Our view
This is a disappointing, unimaginative name that does not say anything about what people do, ignores the corporate work of many finance professionals and does not reflect the degree of qualifications that some financial advisers have obtained.
The title needs the word "institute"
