New Discrimination Laws To Block Graduate Recruitment

Published / Last Updated on 30/10/2005

Recruitment schemes that stay limited to people straight from university could leave employers open to discrimination claims next year, when new age discrimination laws are introduced in the UK.

The biggest change for employers is that they will have to ensure that their graduate training programmes are open to people of all ages, not just very recent graduate leavers.

But the Association of Graduate Recruiters do not believe that graduate training schemes will be made illegal by the act, but want the new laws to be made much clearer as very few details are available.

Our view

Most graduates have no knowledge of the real world and expect huge salaries to start.  is open minded to all applicants young and old.
