Options set out in the Pensions Commission Report by Adair Turner, which was published last year, will form the basis of discussion for National Pensions Day, involving simultaneous consultation in major cities across the UK, where the public will be asked to give their views. People will be asked for their opinions on a package of options including the basic framework of the state pension, a national system of personal accounts and the role of employers in providing pensions.
A representative sample of people will be recruited to take part. Others will be able to have their say by going online to the National Pensions Debate website.
Our view
National Pensions Day - we beleive the actions will take no notice of the feedabck offered by the public unless it suits the Government.
