MP Vote Yes to Benefits Cap.

MPs yesterday voted “yes” to the government’s cap on work age related benefits.

Increases will be capped to just 1% per year until 2016.

Benefits that will be capped are:

  • Work based benefits such as Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support and Employment and Support Allowance.
  • Other work related benefits such as Maternity, Paternity and Sick Pay will also be capped.

In addition, other low income benefits such as housing support and working family tax credits will be capped.
