Mortgage Lending 34 Year Low

The Council of Mortgage Lenders has released figures that mortgage lending in the UK is at its lowest level since 1974.

It confirmed that lending was down by nearly 50% over the last two years.

It suggest that this fall is due to a combination of lack of liquidity on the mortgage lending market as well purchasers being more cautious in the current difficult economic climate.
