More Than 50% Of Us Become Carers

Published / Last Updated on 14/08/2002

At some point in their lives, more than half of the population will become informal carers.  66% of women and more than 50% of men will become carers before the age of 75 and will provide care for 20 or more hours a week.

Women make up the largest number of carers, although men are more likely to become carers after the age of 75.
