More Homes Needed For First Time Buyers

Published / Last Updated on 08/01/2007

Some top officials are calling for more homes to be built, that first time buyers can afford. In the latest pre-Budget report, buyers who were buying a carbon-free home would be exempt from stamp duty.

However, leaders believe that unless the stamp duty system is looked and a new way working found, other properties will still be out of reach for first time buyers.

Our view

Utter rubbish. As our parents and grand-parents had to do, younger people will have to save for a few years for a deposit on a property instead of lavish holidays, flashy cars and cocktails. We know this sounds harsh, but even if you are not in the ‘cocktail club’, we all still have much more affluent lives than our grand-parents did, we just need to save.
