Markets Up On Nuclear Fear Drop.

Following an announcement by Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, that progress is being made in restoring power at the Fukushima Nuclear plant, Global markets were higher today.  

The Dow Jones opened strongly, up 1.67 per cent to 12,056.  The FTSE gained 1.24 per cent to 5,789, while the German Dax was up 2.06 per cent to 6,801 and the French Cac rose 2.1 per cent to 3,890.  

Meanwhile, following last week’s record high, the yen fell further to 81.13 yen against the dollar as G7 intervention normalised the currency.
