Manufacturing Output Up.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released its figures for manufacturing. Over March and April, manufacturing increased by 0.4%. The data included North Sea oil production and power generation.

Although the sector remains strong being boosted by the manufacture of rubber and other non-metallic products, it is still lower than the 2008 peak.

The sub sector for rubber and other non-metallic products was the best performing contributor to the manufacturing sector, increasing by 18%. This was the biggest increase since 1973. Compared with the same point last year the sector increased by 4.4%.

Despite the sector still remaining below the 2008 peak experts are still happy with the increase.

This was the 5th consecutive month that manufacturing output had seen growth and this provides further proof that the UK economy is continuing to grow.
