Lowest Bank Savings Rates List

Lowest Bank Savings Rates List.

Who’s Paying the Lowest Savings Rates? A name and shame list

As part of its “Sunlight Remedy” programme, effecting shining the light on the good, the bad and the ugly bank, credit companies, lenders, investments and pension companies, the Financial Conduct Authority has today published lists of the lowest interest rates available on open and closed easy access cash savings accounts and easy access cash ISAs.

The FCA suggests that whilst these tables show the lowest possible rates they may not necessarily reflect the typical rate that a you are earning on your particular account. Most providers and  products offer different rates of interest where, for example, customers meet different conditions or according to the customer’s account balance, which might mean a higher rate of interest is paid.

Interest rate below are on easy access cash account and ISA savings accounts as at the 1 October 2016. The accounts are separated into those which can be managed in a branch, and those that cannot.

Comment

The FCA suggests this is about making consumers aware of the commercial activities that there bank or building society is operating under.  Are they paying you more or less than others?  Why?  Are the ones that you thought were mutual i.e. owned by members for the members paying any more or less than others?  Don’t be conned – they have been named and shamed.

If your savings rates are doing worse than others, it is extremely easy to transfer Cash ISAs to other Cash ISAs or stock market ISAs.  It is also extremely easy to transfer bank savings accounts.
