Lloyds Dividends Back in 2009

Lloyds TSB has suggested today that it would be in a position to start to pay dividends i.e.  a share of profits for shareholders in 2009.

This suggests that they will have repaid any loans from the government i.e.  they will have bought back the Government’s preference share holdings.

Lloyds intimated that they could do this by offering new share opportunities to existing investors although they suggest that it will not be ordinary ‘profit participating’ shares that would be issued.

The string of news follows Lloyds formal bid today for HBOS, which if successful would become known as 'The Lloyds Banking Group'.
