Landlords are being offered an insurance products which could do away with the need for them to take deposits from tenants.  The No Deposit policy from Paragon Advance aims to protect landlords against the cost of damage by tenants.  Policies cost £145 and can be renewed at the end of tenancies at no extra cost.

Our view

There are two camps here, landlords who want to be protected against damage by tenants and tenants who want protection from landlords who withhold deposits.  This may be a compromise, although as ever, we suggest it is open to abuse and premiums will rise.
