The Investment Managers Association have published figures that total ISA sales for the tax year end run in from January to March 2002 fell to £1.5bn compared to £2.4bn in the same period in 2001. This has been attributed to many things.
Our view
As to why people have shied away is quite simple: 1) World Stockmarkets have experienced decline over the last two years or so. 2) Bad press - e.g. Equitable Life. 3) Enron and other stories such as Marconi etc. 4) The tragic events of 11 September, 2001 and the knock on effect to investment markets.
But as we always say, is now the time to buy? Buy low sell high is always the message, but people need to understand risk.
