Ireland accepts €80-90bn bailout

Ireland became the second country this year to accept billions in EU funding.  Ireland is understood to be receiving €80-90bn over the course of the next three years.

The UK, which is not part of the eurozone, is contributing about £7bn.
This lifeline follows the €110bn bailout of Greece in May.  The government's main goal will be to restructure the country's stricken banking system, which is likely to be almost fully nationalised.
