Investors Look To Japan
According to Trustnet, discounts almost halved on Japan and Japanese smaller companies investment trusts in May, but widened in five other sectors.
Property securities took over from financials as the most discounted sector, at 30.8 per cent compared to 24.6 per cent at the beginning of May.
Our view
A large number of investors were chasing the small Japanese sectors where valuations looked cheap when compared to property securities and UK growth and income securities that are sensitive to the problems in the financial services sector.
