According to JP Morgan Fleming's investor confidence index, confidence overall fell in December. However, 40% of people still believed that the FTSE 100 stock market would rise further throughout this year. Overall though, when compared to last year, consumers are far more confident about investing.
Our View
There seems to be a bit of a 'feelgood' factor going on at the moment, with Christmas just behind us and an upwardly moving stock market. Consumer confidence index figures tend to vary, depending on who is conducting the research but, one trend seems to be emerging from them all - investing is coming back into favour.
