Interest Rates Remain The Same At 5.25%

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee today voted to maintain the official Bank Rate paid on commercial bank reserves at 5.25% pa.

This follows the shock announcement last month of a 0.25% rise. We actually expected the rise this month.

Our views

We expect another potential interest rate rise in April or May depending on how the economy slows or not in the next couple of months.
