Interest Rates Remain Same

The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee has met today and decided to keep base interest rates at 5.0%.

Our view

Given the interest rates cut last month by 0.25%, it was generally expected that interest rates would remain the same this month.

We suggest there may be one further interest rates cut in the summer but that will possibly be it for 2008.
