House Price Inflation Up

Published / Last Updated on 10/06/2004

No wonder interest rates were raised again yesterday if the news from Rightmove is to be believed.  The property website announced recently that according to their research, house price inflation had risen by almost 8.5% in the quarter.  Almost 2.5% of this was during April.   Rightmove put the annual rise at 15.6%.

Our View

House prices are definitely still on the rise and, according to Government figures, so are sales and purchases.   By this time last year 340,000 transactions had taken place.  This year it is 442,000.

Whilst the property market hype seems to be dying down, prices are still rising.  Maybe people have just stopped talking about it!
